Hello, I'm Julien
Project manager, parent, and expat based in Lyon, France.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually grew into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Relocating to France wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The opening months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, and new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more challenging than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built TorinvexLaqumor
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in France.
